Ridding Iraq of weapons of mass destruction. That was the whole idea, right? That‘s why we went. I am reluctant to let that fact disappear down the memory hole, because if– as the war ends, or at least starts to end– if, at this time, the history of the war is written as us going there to topple the regime of a bad man when that frankly isn‘t why were told that we were going there– Aren‘t we still at risk of making this horrific mistake again? And, aren‘t we letting the people who foisted the WMD idea on us, not many years ago, aren‘t we sort of letting them get away with it? . Rachel Maddow
About This Quote

George W. Bush was asked about his decision to invade Iraq in 2003. He explained that the idea was to find WMDs that would be used against him or his allies. He then explained that he believed that Saddam Hussein possessed such weapons and that this was why he launched the war.

However, the invasion did not turn up any of these weapons. George Bush never gave an explanation as to why this was. The people who supported the war are now trying to explain why they believe it happened.

They are saying they were lied to about the reason for going into Iraq. If this is true, then I can see why many people are unhappy about what took place. While they were told one thing, the war turned out completely different than what they expected.

I have no problem with people who do not agree with the war being upset with George Bush for starting it in the first place, but I do have a problem with people who claim that they were lied to by the President about Iraq having WMDs when this is clearly not true.
